I recently returned from a trip to Dubai; I was shocked at the opulence of it all, the place just oozes money.
While there are tons of options for low-budget travelers, to do the really unique and over the top things you will need to shell out a good bit of cash.
One experience I recommend going big for is high tea at at.mosphere located at the top of the Burj Khalifa.
On the 123 floor of the tallest building in the world Dubai shows off all that money can buy.
For the price of AED 490 (for a window table) high tea includes a half bottle of sparkling wine (alcohol is a rarity in the UAE) as well as bottomless tea, coffee and mocktails (like a cocktail with out the alcohol, very popular in the UAE; the red desert was my fav!). Also included in the price is a sweet appetizer, tiny sandfwitches, a small entree and more tiny treats than one can stomach.
From the restaurant you can see the buildings rising up from the endless desert landscape and on a clear day you can even catch a glimpse of "the world" outline in the water made out of sand that the UAE engineered just for kicks and giggles (and to show off what owning 10% of the world's oil supply can do).
The experience is peasant, unique, and the kind of thing you really only can do once in a lifetime. I high-ly recommend it...see what I did there?
