Things To Do in Bury St. Edmunds
Greene King Brewery Tour: I really enjoyed this tour; you can taste as much beer as you'd like, and it has a killer view of the city from the roof. The tour costs 12 pounds, and is for sure worth doing once.
Abbey Ruins and Gardens: A lovely place for a stroll or a picnic. Be sure to check out the church as well (I was very enamored with the roof). The Abbey Ruins and Gardens are free to visit.
St Mary's Church: Go here to see where Mary Tudor is buried and have one of the lovely volunteers tell you all about the history of Bury St. Edmunds.
Wednesday and Sunday Market: There are lots of fun foods to try, my friend who lives in the town highly recommended the mini donuts (I wasn't craving sweets but if you are you can try them and let me know what you think!)
Shop Bury: An abundance of major chains, small boutiques and charity shops to satisfy the desires of any shopper.
Where to Get a Drink in Bury St. Edmunds
The Nutshell: England's smallest pub. Worth stopping by for a drink with your mates.
LP: They have a solid cocktail menu with delicious wood fired pizza
Guat's up: A solid place for a good cup of coffee (To learn more about coffee options in Bury St. Edmunds check out my coffee crawl post)
Where to Eat in Bury St. Edmunds
Zen Noodle Bar: Delicious Asian food
Gastrono-me: An excellent place for brunch
Giggling Squid: Expensive but delicious. I got the fried squid and the papaya salad, both of which were delicious and I would recommend if money is not an issue.
Nandos: I know it's a chain but it's one of my favorite chains so it gets a shout out because of it's delicious chicken and stellar peri peri fries!
