I love coffee, like a lot, I’ve visited almost every coffee shop in the city that has been recommended (and many that haven’t). If you are looking for the best coffee in Colorado Springs here are the ones worth noting:
This overly hip coffee shop is actually known for it’s donuts. They typically have an interesting assortment of gourmet donuts and a decent roast. I recommend getting a regular breakfast there as well (like eggs) because second to loyal it’s probably the best breakfast in COS. Bold statement, but go check it out.
If you like light roast then this is your place. Try their award winning locally roasted coffee, and definitely get the eggs on toast (so simple but so magical). And if you’re around Saturdays at 10am they do a free coffee cupping at their Ivy Wild Roastery. Space is often limited and the place is usually packed so don’t go hoping to linger all day but definitely go! Put this on the “Must Visit” list for coffee in Colorado Springs!
Kawa has my favorite dark roast coffee in town. If you get a standard cup of coffee and drink it in shop you get two free refills which is also a win. The inside is a bit more “friends” and less “hip/sleak” but it is a good place to cozy up on their couch, grab a biscotti (they are delicious there!) and settle in for a work/study session.
A science themed coffee shop, they even serve the drinks in beakers. I like that they have a good dark roast. Their coffees are more on the Starbucks size scale so I just ordered my cappuccino with only 6oz of milk and it was good.
While I can’t say that Storey has my favorite coffee I can say that they have an adorable and very tiny shop. Located right downtown the owners of Storey are incredibly intentional about their work with the homeless and being a part of the downtown community.
If you are looking for a good cup of coffee made by award winning baristas then this is the place for you. Known for their impressive pours and solid toast options Switchback is definitely a favorite among locals.
If you are more of a dark roast person then this is the place for you. They definitely focus more on dark roasts and pair well with their waffles (they also have great breakfast cocktails). Their coffee isn’t my number one for dark roast (Kawa is) but Urban Steam has the corner on waffles for sure.
Wild Goose Meeting House and Good Neighbors Meeting House
Very similar in vibe, though they do not roast their own coffee they typically feature really solid roasters. They also have great food options. If you are looking for a place for a lunch meeting, study session or to get a cocktail along with your coffee you should check out one of these coffee shops.
Wayfinder might be my favorite coffee shop in Colorado Springs. A bit out of the center of town but worth the trek for the solid cup of house roasted coffee, delicious pastries and lovely travel themed art.
