The Best Places to Eat in Alamogordo
I'm not going to lie, Alamogordo isn't a foodie town. I've eaten at every recommended restaurant in the area and I can honestly say there are only a handful of places in the area that are worth recommending. But here they are, compelled into one simple list for you:
Natures Pantry in Alamogordo
This place is only open for lunch and it is closed on Sundays but their Southwest chicken sandwich and their almond smoothie are for sure worth going there for. Plus, you can stock up on some healthy foods while you are there.
Caliches in Alamogordo
This is probably my favorite place to eat (dessert) in Alamogordo, they have the most delicious custard! If you are in the area don't miss your chance to get custard here! (Caliches also made my list of unusual green chile foods you should try in New Mexico so check that post out here!)
Cloudcroft Brewing in Cloudcroft
Craft beer and wood fired pizza, a definite win for Cloudcroft! Plus they have corn hole and often have live music making it a really fun place to hang!
Mad Jacks in Cloudcroft
By far some of the best BBQ. Not just in the area, but in general. You have to wait in line to eat here and their hours are super limited (they are only open for lunch, and only on the weekends) but it's worth waiting for. Also I heard a rumor that he may be closing soon so get up there and try it before that happens!
Nuckleweed in La Luz
Nuckleweed does breakfast super well. You need to make a reservation as the entire restaurant is a doublewide with like five tables. But their cinnamon roll, stuffed french toast and eggs benedict are all so delicious.
Casa De Suenos in La Luz
If you are craving good Mexican food your options are somewhat limited. But of the many places I tried in the area this one was the best. Their agave margaritas are pretty good and their chicken tacos were my favorite in the area. If you must have Mexican then this would be the place...(or Amigos bakery if you want a good enchilada).
Eddie's Burritos in Alamogordo
I was pleasantly surprised by Eddie's so I decided to make it a last minute addition to the list. Their aqua frescas are delicious, they had a ton of meat options, and an impressive amount of salsas to top your burrito with. Plus it's not too expensive!
