Alamogordo isn’t exactly busting at the seams with great food but they do have a few fun desserts that are worth checking out if you’re in town.
We will start your crawl at Heart of the Desert. Pick up some pistachio tortugas, they won’t disappoint.
Following the tortugas head over to Natures Pantry and get an almond or coffee smoothie. Made with frozen yogurt and a pinch of genius. It’s delightful. They have weird hours so make sure they are open before you go.
After your smoothie head over to The Local and order the Bourbon Bacon Bread Pudding. While I personally don’t eat bacon (so i’ve never tried it), I’ve heard good things from my bacon eating friends.
The next stop on this trip to diabetes is Caliches. A personal favorite of mine, such a favorite that I wrote about it here (How to Spend a Weekend in Alamogordo), here (The Best Places to Eat in Alamogordo), here (101+ Things to do in Alamogordo) and here (Where to Sample New Mexico’s Most Unique Green Chile Foods). But actually it sucks. Just kidding. Obviously. Did I mention I wrote about it like a million times?
After spiking your sugar level at Caliches you are going to want to head up the hill to Nuckleweed for the most delicious cinnamon roll. Nuckleweed has super limited hours (and seating) so make sure you check online and make a reservation. The cinnamon rolls are only available until they sell out. Then they are gone. Forever. Or until the next morning opening. If you want to taste the magic plan ahead. No room for slackers there.
I feel like that’s enough. There are other desserts but America doesn’t need them. Go run or something…or just roll…because that’s all you probably can do now. Need more ideas for where to eat something other than dessert? Check out this guide!
